PRINT of Sacrificium
Sacrificium (Latin for sacrifice)
6 inches x 10 inches Canvas
Acrylic on Canvas
Printed on Canvas Paper
12 Times A Year
5 days out of every month An average of 60 days Per our annual journey around our star On our earth.
I bleed.
My insides want nothing more than to be outside My own body betrays itself Acting as if I’ve betrayed myself By not allowing a parasite to infect me For not creating life that month..
As I lay on the bathroom floor Covered in my own blood, sweat, tears, and vomit Experiencing the worst pain I’ve ever endured On the verge of death - I swear. I remember how lucky I am..
I’m only forced to suffer for 60 days a year.
That’s about 3,300 days throughout an estimated 80 year life span with menopause setting in a little late in my biological family around age 65.
3,300 days of Bleeding..
It may seem like that’s too many days but there are others who have been bleeding for much longer.
For example since 1492 Turtle Island has been Bleeding for 533 years For centuries Her soil has been stained with blood and tears With no end in sight
Blood will continue to be shed here Not only does land know what it feels like to bleed and to be bled on but for some speaking will always result in Bleeding meaning language knows this feeling too.
Arabic is a Semitic language. An ancient one. The beautiful speakers of this language know all too well what it means to bleed. They have sacrificed so much in order to keep their language, their culture, their religion, and their people here on this earth. They also know what it means to spill blood and to witness it being spilled.
Another language that bleeds is Japanese. It belongs to a people with an immensely known culture. It is a land full of beautiful people with one of the bloodiest history’s known to the inhabitants of earth. Their blood has been evaporated so they too know what it means to bleed but they have spilled and drained more blood than they have spared.
Five Arabic words and five Japanese words are hidden amongst the symbols, sigils, and throughout the design known as The Translation or Interpretatio. Those words and their meaning will remain known only by me, the artist, and to Sacrificium’s future keeper.
We have the Cosmos to thank for our blood. The symbols for Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Pluto, mercury, the moon, the sun, and earth are hidden throughout Sacrificium 5 times each.
If you’re curious about why there are so many fives involved in this piece please look into the fifth element, Aether, or Spirit.
**Prints are currently made to order and may take longer to ship while waiting for print services.**
